This is the Baule sun — a design cast by hand in the Ivory Coast, carried through generations of West African metalwork tradition. Baule (also spelled Baoule) tribal beads are becoming harder to find with each passing year, which makes every one you hold a small piece of a fading craft.

Cast in solid brass, no two beads are exactly alike. Expect minor variations — a chip here, a trace of dust or dirt there — because these aren't machine-stamped. They're made by hand, the way they've always been made.

Use it as the centerpiece of your next pendant design, or let it stand on its own. Either way, it carries weight beyond its size.
